The Objectives of W-BRIDGE (About Us)
Aiming to contribute to mitigating global environmental problems in a way that is more effective and rooted in our everyday lives
Waseda University and Bridgestone Corporation are engaged in the collaborative research project, W-BRIDGE, with the aim of contributing to mitigating environmental problems.
To tackle the challenges posed by the serious environmental problems that mankind is confronted with, W-BRIDGE takes conventional academia-industry cooperation one step further and encourages the participation of consumers from the local community (environmental NGOs and civic organizations). We propose a new framework for conducting research and other activities through the joint efforts of three parties-university, corporation, and consumer/local community.
By making the most out of this framework, we seek to contribute to mitigating global environmental problems in a practical way that is more effective and rooted in our everyday lives.
Functions
Identifying excellent models of environmental activities, providing support, and spreading them across society
W-BRIDGE designs, implements, and develops environmental activity models through the joint efforts of three parties-university, corporation, and consumer.
We consider that it is an important mission for W-BRIDGE to identify outstanding activity models from among a wide range of environmental activity models, provide support, and spread them across society.
By fulfilling this mission, we aim to drive forward measures for mitigating current environmental problems that cannot easily become major trends if they are not accompanied by economic rationality. We also seek to engage in discussions that position environment and economy not on opposing axes, but on the same axis.
